In the Beginning
Did I really say the beginning? Looks like I did, but I’ll spare you the drama of my awkward years in Jr. high and breaking up with my first girlfriend…we can visit that another day, maybe. Let’s fast forward to college and my crazy encounter that sparked the birth of Legacy of the Kings.
I was a young stud, muscles for days…so I told myself. Although I tried, I didn’t have much fun in college. I never joined an Alpha Beta Whatever. I didn’t party. I was a loner and spent my time studying.
The campus life was a drag, but I had plenty of fun elsewhere with my girlfriend. I meet her as a college freshman, and she was a senior in high school. Ashley (future wife and still as hot as ever!) was my partner in crime, along with my brother Matt and a few wild friends.
We watched anime, played computer games, and read A LOT of comic books. My closet was a shrine to all things DC and Marvel, and Ashley encouraged the addiction by adding to my collection of figurines and graded comic books (no less than 9.8 ever!).
On weekends, I worked at the family ranch with my brother (oh, the fun!). We skinned plenty of animals, and guided lots of hunts. I met people from all around the world. They were all interesting, and everyone had a story.
As always, the weekend would sadly end, and I would leave the ranch for Houston. College awaited me, and I still had a bit to go before graduation. I used the money I earned to pay for my classes, and to buy more collectables than my closet could hold. Life was good, but it was about to get strange.
