Party Time
What’s your definition of a party? My idea of a party is food, laughter and games. Sometimes, I’ll even get wild and have a root beer float. (Don’t judge! We all have our vices!)
I’m not fond of alcohol, and I’ve never had any drugs other than those prescribed by a doctor. I don’t prefer substances that alter my state, because I’m have too much fun living life.
Years ago, I was invited to a house party. I was hesitant, but they promised it was going to be fun. I’m not one to turn down a good time, so I jumped in the car with my friend.
When I arrived, there was plenty of food and enough alcohol to fill a small swimming pool. As the night aged, others entered the house with much stronger substances. I was no longer with good company and ready to leave, but my friend “lost his keys.”
I was over an hour away from home without a ride. I was stuck, so I grab a soda and went outside to enjoy the night alone. I quickly found myself lost within my imagination.
Others soon began to notice I wasn’t indulging myself with the same “party favors.” They were impressed and one even responded, “Wow, you really know how to chill.” I suddenly had everyone’s attention and became a witness for Christ that night.
In LOTK (Memories of Waiden page: 191) Kinsey finds herself at a party. “Fight against Sahib!” she shouted. The people once again ignored her cry. “Eat and be happy for tomorrow we die. I won’t be blinded like the rest of them.”
The italicized line above was inspired by Isiash 22:13. Another interpretation would be, “let’s enjoy ourselves while we can.” There are many people who ignore that we are in a battle.
As Christians we are to remain vigilant and sober minded. Don’t allow the things of this world to blind you from your mission. Our eternal home is in Heaven if we keep the faith. Do your best to represent Christ in every circumstance and make disciples.
“And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.”
