Fresh Start
The dream was short and more vivid than any before. It felt like only seconds, yet so much occurred within that time. My views would alternate from third to first person between the mountains, valleys, and caves, but I had a front row seat before the cloud that covered Jesus.
We were hovering in the sky when Jesus spoke. His voice was calm and direct. I heard it audibly and internally. “I didn’t create depression,” Jesus said. I quickly scanned the Earth to find depression didn’t exist. I didn’t doubt Him, but why not use my amazing powers again!
I wanted to continue. There was so much to see and learn, but I suddenly awoke. My eyes slowly opened to reveal the bedroom was filled with extra light! His glory was all around me! Jesus was with me in my sleep and my waking hours. He would never leave me or forsake me.
I once again thanked Him with tears when a unique thought occurred. If God didn’t create depression…maybe I don’t have to accept it. Was this even possible? What did I have to lose? I took a deep breath with a new mindset, and the depression vanished as I exhaled.
We don’t have to accept every situation and feeling. As Christians we must learn to put on the mind of Christ (1 Corinthians 2:16). He is the source of our power and victory.
The glory faded from the room, and I jumped out of bed to write. Weeks passed as I completed my manuscript and worked on Algebra I Can Do. The company proceeded with conferences and pilot programs, while Ashley and I learned to trust God with our finances.
It was a regular day in the office when our ever-quiet phones began to ring. After months of work, the company finally made a sale…a large one! There was enough money to clear my debt, but not only that, I was hired as a math teacher by one of the schools in our pilot program.
God had a plan all along (Jeremiah 29:11), and He has a plan for you! I taught math by day and wrote Legacy of the Kings: Salvation (LOTKS) by night while hiding numerous parables and allegories within the book. Let’s take a deeper look into LOTKS.
“Through the Lord’s mercies we are not consumed, because His compassions fail not. They are new every morning; Great is Your faithfulness.”
