Weapons

What’s your favorite weapon? Do you enjoy blades, or do you like something with firepower? Maybe your favorite weapon is fictional? The Excalibur. Thor’s hammer— Mjolnir? Zues’s Thunderbolt! I like the elemental weapons, but I might be bias.

Unfortunately, we live in a world where weapons are necessary. Some weapons are used to harm, but the Lord did not leave the Church defenseless. He has equipped us with powerful weaponry that can’t be surpassed (2 Corinthians 10:4-5).

These weapons are intended to help others come to Christ. They are also meant to combat the evils of this world and beyond (Ephesians 6:12). So, what exactly are some of these weapons? Well, let’s start here.

We are co-heirs with Christ (Romans 8:17). The power of Jesus is also available to Christians through the Holy Spirit. We can do miracles, heal, cast out demons and more (Mark 16:17-18).

Some of these weapons are found in prayer. And by our faith we can move mountains (Mathew 17:20), but that’s only the beginning. As I stated in an earlier post, we will do greater works than Christ himself (John 14:12-14).

In LOTK the Language of the Kings represents the Christian prayer life (or tongues). Wielding the elemental weapons represents the warrior’s faith in action, and God has given each of us a measure of faith. The elemental weapons are engraved with the statement, “To thee I have made worthy.” The response of the element moving is God answering the prayer.

I chose earth as the first element specifically because of Mathew 17:20. The other elements are all representative of that Scripture, but even with all these weapons there’s still a giant weakness that can be exploited.

“For the word of God is alive and powerful. It is sharper than the sharpest two-edged sword, cutting between soul and spirit, between joint and marrow.”

Hebrews 4:12
